Project no. 03.3.2-LVPA-K-837-04-0026 “Introduction of technological eco-innovations in the activities of “AZ-Pack”, JSC”

Currently, the products produced by “AZ-Pack” JSC are exported to more than 30 countries (Western and Central Europe, Scandinavian and Eastern European and Asian regions), as well as supplied to the largest Lithuanian food production companies, farms, and retail chains. The main products produced by the company are vacuum bags, bags with printing, Bag in Box packaging for liquids. Every year, the company actively develops export development, increases sales volumes, and at the same time looks for modern technological solutions that would help to improve the economy of production scale, as well as reduce the impact on the environment.

In 2021 February 10 the company started implementing the technological eco-innovation project no. 03.3.2-LVPA-K-837-04-0026 “Introduction of technological eco-innovations in the activities of “AZ-Pack”, JSC” according to 2014-2020 EU Structural Funds Investment Action Program Instrument “No. No. 03.3.2-LVPA-K-837 “Eco-innovations LT+”. The aim of the project is to reduce the negative impact of production on the environment by reducing the costs of raw materials and production waste. To achieve the goal of the project, a new, more efficient and capable “Stand up Pouch” and “Bag in Box” packaging production line was purchased. It is expected that the higher productivity of the equipment will make it possible to produce twice as much packaging than is usually produced with other equipment, and the wider equipment capabilities will help to manage the production of packaging more efficiently – to optimize the use of raw materials by rejecting unnecessary formats and thus reducing the amount of unnecessary film waste.

The implementation of the project will also help the company to expand the range of manufactured packaging with a new product – “Stand up Pouch” packaging. Stand-up pouches with an integrated tap are designed to pack liquid food and non-food products. The demand for these packages is growing rapidly all over the world, because this type of packaging is lighter compared to other packages, for example – plastic tank, glass container. Due to the lower weight of Stand up Pouch packages and the less space they take up when transporting packages, this liquid packaging method stands out for its economy – it helps to reduce logistics and storage costs, it contributes to environmental protection – lighter packages and less use of transportation resources help to save natural resources and contribute to the air pollution reduction.

The project is financed by the own funds of AZ-Pack, UAB and the funds of the European Regional Development Fund in accordance with the 2014-2020 European Union funds investment action program measure no. No. 03.3.2-LVPA-K-837 “Eco-innovations LT+”.
